We have been learning about mixing materials.  We experimented with mixing paints to create secondary colours from primary colours.

Maths week in second class

We have been very busy for Maths week-we had great fun doing an outdoor Maths trail.

Our topic for the week was time.  We wrote out the sequence of steps involved in making rice krispie buns and then made some in class.

We also experimented with how many sentences we could read in a minute, how many times we could bounce a ball in a minute and how many times we could  write our name in a minute.

Every Friday we do Maths club where we take part in lots of fun Maths games and activities.

Aistear

Our Aistear theme this month is homes. We have been making furniture from Play Dough, houses from Lego, a STEM challenge to create  a house for the wolf from the three little pigs. We have been sorting food into different categories in our roleplay.

We have been doing lots of cutting and pasting furniture labels for different rooms in the house.  We have also been playing games with our tricky words and letter sounds.

Science in Senior Infants

For science week we went on an SESE trail to the beech tree.  We took leaf rubbings and estimated how many of us would fit around the tree.

We did the dancing raisins experiment and learned how the raisins danced. We also created a rainbow from skittles and  we made our own volcano using vinegar, baking soda, water and washing up liquid.

We have been making patterns on pegboards

We have played the king of maths app on the ipads
